The Audubon
Society of Forsyth County is gearing up for the annual Birdathon!
-- our biggest fundraising event. On May 7, 2005, ASFC will hold
its annual Spring
Bird Count while raising money to support Audubon's local
programs including the Audubon Adventures Education Program for
our school system and to help fund North Carolina's Coastal Sanctuaries.
How Does
it Work? It's easy.
to count. Whether you're an experienced birder or a novice,
a long-time Auduboner or just thinking about getting involved,
this is the best time in the year to increase birding skills while
having a good time and supporting a good cause. Each count team
is led by an experienced birder in Forsyth County who will be
happy to give you some birding tips. Click
here for more information about the Spring Bird Count. Call
Linda Davis to get on a team - (336) 924-1751 or send her an
email at davisl@mindspring.com (put SPRING BIRD COUNT in the subject line).
Make a
pledge. Pledge a fixed amount of $10, $20, $50 or $100 or
pledge a specific amount per species identified. We usually spot
between 125 and 150 species. Call Linda Davis to make a pledge

Great prizes!
The top fundraiser gets a $75 gift certificate from Wright's Bird Center, second receives a hummingbird feeder from Wild Birds Unlimited, the third will get a spa manicure from European Touch Day Spa, and the fourth handthrown pottery from Christine Timchek.
Don't forget!
Anyone donating $20 or more (and not currently a member) is entitled
to a one-year introductory membership to the National Audubon
Society. Membership benefits include a membership in a local chapter,
as well as a subscription to the award-winning magazine, AUDUBON.
If you can't
make it for the Spring Bird Count, you can still support Audubon by sponsoring the
chapter effort. Send your donation (make checks payable to Audubon Society
of Forsyth County) to: Linda Davis, 4537 Thacker Hill Drive, Winston-Salem, NC 27106.
