Bethania Work Day
Village of Bethania Visitor's Center
We will clean up the border of native plants around the parking area between 9 and 11 a.m. Come early for some birding and stay after for butterflies. Bring old newspapers or cardboard, as we will trim weeds and cover them with this recycled material and mulch. Also bring shears or clippers, gloves, other garden tools, water, hat and insect repellant.

Topic: "Hovering Hummingbirds in 19th Century Art and Science"
Guest Speaker: Dr. Betsey Towns, Professor of Art History, UNCSA

Martin Johnson Heade was a 19th century artist who created many paintings of hummingbirds. Dr. Towns will speak about the birds that so captivated Mr. Heade. Refreshments and socializing at 7:00 p.m., meeting at 7:30 p.m.
