Wear sturdy shoes. Bring gloves, trash bags and binoculars.

Fall Wildflower Day Trip
Blue Ridge Parkway
Carpool from Thruway behind Wachovia/Wells Fargo at 8:30 a.m. Local native plant guru Lisa Gould will take you looking for mountain wildflowers. Beginning at Milepost 248, the caravan will work its way north to Brinegar Cabin. You should be back in town by 5 or 5:30. Bring a lunch, binoculars, field guides, a hand lens if you have one. Dress in layers for cooler weather.
Note: There is a 20-person limit on participation for this trip.

Foothills Brewery
Stop by Foothills for our first Birds and Beer, 638 Fourth St., beginning at 5:30 p.m. No binoculars necessary. We can just talk about birds, "The Big Year," etc. Dinner optional. We plan to make this a monthly event.
