Spring Field Trip to Great Smokies
We will travel to the Cataloochee section of Great Smoky Mountain National Park to look for birds and resident elk. We also will travel the Heintooga Ridge Trail and make stops along the Blue Ridge Parkway west of Asheville. Details to be announced.

Meet at 8:00 a.m. at WSSU's Anderson Center parking lot by the footbridge. At Civitan Park, nesting species include Warbling Vireo, Willow Flycatcher, Yellow Warbler, Orchard Oriole.

Day Trip to Elk Knob State Park
This park, located north of Boone in Todd, NC, is home to Golden-winged Warblers and spring orchids. Meet at Thruway Plaza near Wachovia Bank at 7 a.m. Bring water, snacks, bag lunch, clothing layers for likely cooler weather at higher elevations.
