Archie Elledge Water Treatment Plant
A special Members Only 2nd Saturday Birdwalk at the Archie
Elledge Water Treatment Plant on Saturday, August 11 at 8:00
a.m. We will meet near the office. Archie Elledge is a fantastic
local spot to see shorebirds and waders during summer.
In recent
years the plant has heightened security. Current procedures
are for birders to stop at the gate to sign in upon arrival
and to sign out when they leave. Be prepared to show driver's
license or other picture ID. It is no longer necessary for
us to compile a list of participants in advance.
In past years sightings have included at least eight varieties
of sandpipers, Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs, several species
of heron, and many more. This birdwalk is free and open to
all Audubon members and their guests.
